Amy was a waitress. She used to listen to me proselytize about movies, comics, and music. That life is over, thankfully, but Amy is still my friend. No she does not serve me food, but on occasion, she’s still known to humor my pop culture laden babbling. Since Amy met Matt (henceforth known as MATT FORD) I now have two friends! I’m sure they like to regale themselves with stories about how clever I am. More accurately, they’re probably a little more impressed watching their cats interact.

We’ll skip Amy and MATT FORD’s courtship and jump right to the wedding. I’ll assume that’s why everyone’s here. Well, not right to the wedding. On April 19th Boston was on lockdown. I think everyone’s familiar with this story by now. Anyway, Amy and MATT FORD live a few miles from a certain boat that contained a certain suspect. With two days to go, my first thought amidst the chaos was would they have to postpone the wedding. Had the universe conspired against my friends? Nah. I don’t believe in that. As we know, things resolved pretty quickly from that point. The wedding was a success! Huzzah.

Still, I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if the wedding was postponed. Honestly, probably not too much. Sure, it would have been a bummer, but ultimately, it would not have affected Amy & MATT FORD and the love that they have for each other. The prevailing thought after any catastrophic event is “what kind of world do we live in now.” I don’t believe in that, either. If anything, it’s amazing to see how people always come together in the wake of something terrible, and I know definitively that that would have happened for Amy and Matt (sorry, MATT FORD) if it came down to it. They have so many wonderful friends and family, and I’m thankful to count myself among them.

But that’s not how it went down. What happened was amazing.
